Buenos not so Bueno
I am in Buenos Aires for 3 weeks. It means ‘fair winds’ or ‘good airs.’ I decided this blog could be about the letter group BUENOS. It turns out to be not a particularly good combination. But it does make some bingos, so lets look at some of the possible 7 and 8 letter words
Note: We have borrowed lots of words from other languages, but ‘bueno’ is not one of them, so don’t try playing it

B and C Grade Study List
These are all the 7 letter words you can make by adding an extra letter to the letter group -- BUENOS:
+ C = BOUNCES and BUNCOES
+ D = BONUSED
+ M = UMBONES
+ N = UNBONES
+ R = BOURNES, UNROBES and UNSOBER
+ S = SUBTONE
+ X = UNBOXES
+ Z = SUBZONE
Some of the more interesting meanings:
BUNCO (and also BUNKO) is a trick. Playing a BUNCO can be used as a verb, so BUNKOED or BUNCOING are good too
UMBO is a raised portion in the centre of a shield and the plural is UMBONES. Don’t try playing umbone as it is not a word
Answers to A Grade Challenge
SUBOCEAN – Beneath the ocean
TUBENOSE – A bird with tubular nostrils
BULLNOSE – A disease of pigs
NELUMBOS – Nelumbo is a type of water lilly
UNSOBERS – To make unrefined
I knew UNSOBER, but it feels as though it is just an adjective. I would have wasted 5 points challenging the extra S.
