Retina + GS makes 11 different 8 letter words.

One of the best letter groups is RETINA. It is certainly the best group of 6 letters that does not include an S. Because it is so well known most people will have already looked at the 7 letter words that come from RETINA plus one other letter, so I was looking for something a little different to give a study list over the holiday.

There are 259 words of 8 letters that include that 6 letter base, but that is really too long a list. Where there is more than one anagram most people will find at least one of those words anyway. How about 64 words to learn for Xmas. That shouldn’t be too onerous. They are the 8 letter words from the RETINA stem that have only one word from the combination. Quite a few of the words in that category are unusual and have quite common letters. When you add in that there is no other word you might play you can see why they are worth learning.
